    To ensure the security of your online payments, we have implemented an international security tool which helps to protect you from unauthorised use of your cards. Before accepting payment for goods or services, the e-shops marked with the MasterCard® SecureCode™ sign will require you to enter a card secure code which is known to you only.

  • How it works
    All customers of Danske Bank who have debit and credit cards participate in the secure payment programme automatically. After entering the security code, the bank verifies your identity in a few seconds and after reassuring that you are the card owner the bank validates your purchase. In case the security code is entered incorrectly, the payment is not validated and money is not credited from the account. The additional security tool ensures that only you will be able to pay using your payment card.
  • Online payment process description
    • You will choose products or services in an online store and will enter payment card data needed for payment, as usual: the card owner, card number, its validity date and CVC2 /CVV2 (three-digit number on the other side of the card)
    • The system will redirect you to the secure online payment window of Danske Bank
    • A one-time security code will be sent to you by SMS for payment validation – please notify the bank about your phone number. You can do it via Danske eBank (Payment cards -> Secure payment), at any customer service branch or by calling us at
    • Make sure that all purchase-related information is correct and enter the received one-time security code
    • If the secure code entered is correct, your purchase will be confirmed
    • In case the security code is entered incorrectly 3 (three) times, the card is blocked for payments in e-stores marked by MasterCard SecureCode sign
    • Purchases in shops which have not implemented the international secure online payment tool can be made according to the standard procedure
  • What should you know about the security code?
    • A one-time security code is sent by the mobile phone number specified by you for receiving 3D security code. You must state your phone number to the bank to have it added to your card. You can do it via Danske eBank (Payment cards -> Secure payment), at any customer service branch or by calling us at
    • In case your mobile phone number changes, please inform the bank about it
    • A one-time security code sent by the bank is formed of two Latin letters and eight digits
    • The security code sent to you is valid for a limited period of time; therefore, if you do not enter the security code in 5 minutes, it will expire. In order to get a new security code for payment validation, press “Send new security code” on the screen
    • In case you have blocked the card for payments in e-stores marked by MasterCard SecureCode sign, you should contact the bank regarding the cancellation of blocking of the card. You can do it upon arrival at the closest branch of the bank, by calling the Bank by the phone +371 67 959 599 on working hours or on Danske eBank.
    • After you have submitted the request to cancel the blocking of the secure online payment or after you have entered the telephone number on Danske eBank (Payment cards -> Secure payment), you will be able to pay by card again:
      - From 8.15 a.m. (after the cancellation of blocking or after entering the phone number from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
      - From 12.15 p.m. (after the cancellation of blocking or after entering the phone number from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m)
      - From 4.15 p.m. (after the cancellation of blocking or after entering the phone number from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
      - From 8.15 p.m. (after the cancellation of blocking or after entering the phone number from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
      - From 00.15 a.m. (after the cancellation of blocking or after entering the phone number from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.)

    In case you do not receive an SMS during the payment procedure, inform the bank about it by sending a notice on Danske eBank, visiting closest branch or calling us at +371 67 959 599 (on working hours only).

    Professionals at Danske Bank monitor electronic payments in foreign countries daily and restrict payments in the electronic space of certain countries after having considered changes in the economic and political situation as well as the increase in unauthorised payments or skimming. Depending on the potential risks, different constraints are applied in different countries. For example, it may be prohibited to withdraw cash from ATMs, pay by card in shops where no PIN code is required, or pay on the Internet.

    To avoid blocking of operations, before travelling to any of the countries listed above, please notify the bank that you plan to make payments in these countries. You can do this in any of the following ways:

    Via Danske eBank
    At Danske eBank select the menu option 'Cards' -> 'Cards Restrictions', you will see a list of risk-related countries. Select the country of your destination, set the period of time of your visit, and select the cards that should not be subject to restrictions. At the end of the specified period, the system will monitor your card again and will not allow suspicious payment operations to be carried out.

Tips and Advice

  • What shall do if I forgot my PIN?

    If you forgot your PIN, please apply to the Bank. You will need to fill in an application of established form to issue a new payment card. The bank will issue the card with a new PIN in three working days.

    For the assignment of a new PIN you will be charged a fixed fee specified in the price list.

    You can fill in the application at customer service unit.

  • Can I change my card’s PIN number into one which is easier to remember?

    You can change an existing PIN number of your payment card at any Danske Bank ATM.

    Changing PIN number is not complicated: at the ATM, chose Change PIN Number function and follow the ATM’s prompts. New PIN number will become effective right away.

  • I lost my card (it was stolen). What shall I do?

    Block the card immediately. You can block a card via Danske Bank, by calling Danske Bank information centre +371 67 959 599 or arrive at a nearest Danske Bank customer service branch.

    You will also have to fill in application of an established form to issue a new payment card. You can fill in the application at any customer service department.

  • I broke my card/the card got demagnetised. What shall I do?
    Please arrive to the bank and fill in the application to issue a new payment card. The new card will be issued in three working days.
  • My card got stuck in the ATM. What shall I do?
    If your card got stuck in the ATM, please block the card. Call Danske Bank information centre at +371 67 959 599  or arrive at the nearest Danske Bank customer service branch.
  • I noticed some discrepancies in the monthly statement. To whom shall I apply?

    Having found any discrepancies call Danske Bank information centre at +371 67 959 599 or arrive at a nearest Danske Bank customer service branch and submit an inquiry concerning discrepancies in the card account.

    The time needed to clarify the discrepancies shall depend upon the type of your card and whether the transaction was originated in Latvia or abroad.

    Where the discrepancies in the card account are not confirmed, the consideration of the claim shall be subject to a fixed fee.

  • How to check the balance of a Card Account?

    You can find out the balance of the card account at any time by using:

    • ATMs
    • Danske eBank
       

  • What maximum amount of cash can be withdrawn from the card account?

    For security reasons number of transactions and amount of cash withdrawal is limited within 24 hours. You can find the maximum number of transactions and amount for a particular card in the pricing.

    Withdrawing cash at ATMs you may need to do that in several operations depending on limitations imposed upon cash withdrawal at ATMs.

  • Which payment cards I can use for payment in online stores?

    After implementing an international secure online payment system, Danske Bank gives you an opportunity to pay online with both debit and credit cards.

    The administrators of online stores may limit payments with certain types of debit cards but Danske Bank provides all technical capabilities to pay online with any type of card bearing CVC number on the back.

  • When trying to pay online I’m redirected to Danske Bank window where I’m asked to enter an additional security code. What is this number and how can I find it out?

    At online stores bearing MasterCard® SecureCode™ sign you will be asked to enter card secure code which is known only to you before paying for your purchases. This international security tool protects your card from unauthorised use.
