Using Danske eBank securely

  • Be careful. Instances whereby criminals attempt to access confidential information concerning bank accounts, eBank login codes, payment cards, passwords, etc. sometimes are on the increase. We would like to remind you once again that the bank will never request its clients to disclose any confidential information via the internet. Please remember that, when needed, Danske Bank employees will invite you to the nearest bank division, and will never ask you to provide your passwords by phone, e-mail, or any other means.

Considering the significance of modern-day technologies, Danske Bank constantly invests in information protection. That is why our Danske eBank services are characterised by a very high safety level complying with all present-day requirements.
  • Since banks securely protect their information systems, swindlers usually direct their malicious attempts on bank clients who have little experience in the field of information protection.
Therefore, we would like you to remember the following three rules, which will help you to the greatest possible extent reduce the risk of losing your savings.

    • Be careful – remember that all log-in details  constitute a direct key to your bank account; therefore, do not leave them in public places and places accessible to other persons.

    • Do not yield to psychological pressure – you might receive letters or telephone calls from unknown persons who will pretend to be Danske Bank employees and ask you to reveal your log-in details. Please remember that Danske Bank employees will never ask you to reveal your passwords by telephone, e-mail or by other unauthorized means.

    • Protect your computer – if your computer equipment is not sufficiently protected, it may become the most vulnerable element in the entire information transmission chain.
  • Keep the special part of your bank account (the part containing information on your user ID) in a safe place.
  • Try to memorise your log-in information.
  • Do not reveal your log-in details even to your family members; if you want them to be able to manage your account, contact the bank where separate log-in details will be provided to the persons of your choice.
  • Inform the bank without delay about any questionable telephone calls or letter received from Danske Bank (containing requests to provide or to confirm your log-in details) by calling us or sending an inquiry. More information on the attempts of unauthorised persons to get log-in details may be found here.
    • Install reliable anti-virus software and set it so as to control all incoming and outgoing data. We recommend that you use the services of companies offering data protection solutions such as Symantec, McAfee, Panda Software. If you do not have a possibility to install such software, use the free-of-charge Symantec, McAfee, Panda Software.

    • We also recommend that you activate firewalls and software protecting computers from data phishing and other harmful programs (adware/spyware checkers).

    • Some internet browsers enable saving login data, so that next time the user can log in automatically (without the need to enter a password). By using this convenient function, criminals can find out your login data. Therefore, we recommend that you always read the messages displayed on the screen carefully and not use this function for logging in to Danske eBank or any other websites for which confidential information must be provided.
  • An insecure wireless connection creates the opportunity for password theft from an e-banking system by criminals. We therefore recommend the following to the users of a wireless connection:

    • Getting acquainted with the security settings specified in the router documentation and setting higher security parameters than those recommended by the manufacturer

    • Preventing access to the wireless connection by any unauthorised persons by disabling the SSID broadcast

    • Setting at least a 12-symbol password for connection to the wireless LAN using both uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers.
    1. Prior to using Danske eBank, make sure that you are indeed about to connect to Danske eBank. You can do so by checking the digital certificate of the website.
    2. When you want to finish your work with Danske eBank, click "Exit" (in the left-side upper corner).
  • To ensure the Danske eBank most trusted technologies are used.
All information between your browser and the service station of the Bank is transmitted by using the data encryption SSL standard protocol with 128 bits level encryption. Thus transmitted information is securely protected from an authorized access or modification.
Also to ensure the data transmission security Danske eBank uses digital certificate. Digital certificate is the combination of digital information approved by the authentication centre, which allows an accurate identification of the information owner. Danske eBank site uses a certificate issued by the certification service provider "GlobalSign". How to verify the digital certificate? »

Finally the security of Danske eBank is ensured by a three-level protection, which you manage yourself. While completing a request to use the account management over the Internet service you will be provided the following identification means:
    • User ID: User name specified in the section "User ID" of your Danske eBank contract. It is an invariable unique collection of symbols designed to identify you within the system.
    • Authentication token (digipass): It is a device intended for identification of users in Danske eBank system, which complies with the highest security requirements and ensures an unlimited number of different passwords.
These means must be kept in secure places. Should you loose the pin generator, please contact Danske Bank by calling +370 5 215 6666.
