Where can FuturePros take you? Stories from those who took the chance

80% of FuturePros participants continue their career with Danske Bank Lithuania, taking up more challenges and responsibilities across the organisation each year.

When Anna joined FuturePros, she was studying Economics at Vilnius University in Šiauliai after moving to Lithuania from Ukraine.

“I had no formal work experience, but I was eager to apply the knowledge I had gained at university,” says Anna.

What attracted her to FuturePros was the combination of different career tracks, a one-year contract, and the flexibility to work part-time. Living in Šiauliai was initially a challenge, but together with her future manager, she found a solution that allowed her to balance both work and studies.

During the programme, Anna began translating theory into practice. Working on strategic analysis, reporting, planning, and coordination tasks, she learned how to apply her academic background in a business environment while developing new skills in stakeholder communication and cross-cultural collaboration. Before long, her proactive approach and willingness to take on challenges earned her a permanent position.

Since then, Anna has continued to grow her career at Danske Bank. After two years in Consulting, she transitioned into a Business Analyst role, where she now works closer to the technical side of the bank, helping deliver and improve customer-facing solutions and products.

“In today's world, we must have transferable skills, and sometimes career changes help you both acquire new competencies and combine them with your previous experience.” says Anna.

Marius joined FuturePros while studying Software Engineering at Vilnius University. Before taking his first full-time career step, he had worked as a freelance graphic designer and branding specialist, but wanted to test himself outside the academic environment and get closer to real-world business challenges.

“I never felt like I had to be the best coder in the room to create value, and I never was. What I needed was to back myself up, build confidence, and figure out how my strengths as a generalist could work in a professional environment,” says Marius.

What convinced him most was the team. During the interview process, he found people with the scale, structure, and resources of a large organisation, but the curiosity and energy of a start-up.

During the programme, Marius worked on development, testing, debugging, and learning complex internal systems. Along the way, he discovered that his ability to connect ideas, people, and perspectives was just as valuable as technical expertise.

Today, he works as a Software Engineer in the Housing Journeys tribe, helping develop solutions for real estate financing in Sweden and Finland.

His advice to anyone considering FuturePros: “Don't wait until you feel ready. ‘Ready’ rarely comes before the first step.”

When Indrė joined FuturePros, she was looking for something many professionals search for at some point in their careers: a new challenge.

“FuturePros came at exactly the right moment. I had just returned from maternity leave and knew I needed a change.”

The decision wasn't an easy one. FuturePros meant stepping into a new field, accepting a lower salary, and taking a temporary contract over other opportunities that offered more senior titles and higher pay.

She joined the Oracle HCM squad, which is responsible for the bank's HR platform and its development. During the programme, Indrė took ownership of the Learning module, worked on improving the user experience for training administrators, and led an AI-related initiative focused on bringing AI capabilities into the HR platform while ensuring data security and a better user experience.

By taking initiative and embracing opportunities outside her comfort zone, she earned a permanent position and continued building her career at Danske Bank. Since then, she has taken on new challenges within the HR technology area, contributing to the implementation of a new HR platform. Today, she works as a QA and Risk Management Lead for HCM implementation while also supporting the Project Management Office.

“If you want, FuturePros can be a gentle introduction to the job market. Or it can be a direct springboard for your future career. It all depends on you and how much you're willing to go after it.”

Today, Indrė looks back on FuturePros as the decision that helped her discover a career path she genuinely enjoys and grow far faster than she had imagined when she first applied.
