Diversity & Inclusion

Danske Bank aims to grow a diverse and inclusive culture to mirror the societies we are part of and to create equal opportunities for our employees.  Nurturing a sense of belonging is essential to us. When people belong, they are comfortable with expressing themselves openly, freely and in their own voice and feel empowered to make a difference. We believe, that a diverse and inclusive culture will help us unlock the full potential of our employees and to become a better bank for all our stakeholders.

Examples of how we work with Diversity & Inclusion (D&I)

Diversity & Inclusion Council

We have established a D&I council and appointed D&I leads in all parts of the bank to ensure sufficient actions are taken to increase diversity and inclusion.

Gender balance in senior leadership

Gender diversity is recognised as a multiplier for other areas of diversity. We have a target for gender balance in senior leadership for 65/35 by 2023.

Gender neutrality in the hiring process

We are working to eliminate gender bias in recruitment by, e.g., providing recruitment training for managers, screening job ads for gender neutrality and ensuring a gender-neutral use of recruitment channels.

Rainbow families have equal rights

Rainbow families in Danske Bank have the same rights to maternity-, paternity- and parental leave as other families.

Rainbow Network

Our employees have established internal Rainbow Network for LGBT+ and allies in various countries, including Lithuania. 'Allies' refer to anyone who wants to support the LGBT+ agenda, inclusion and diversity in the bank.

Collaboration with the Stonewall organisation

Danske Bank has joined Stonewall Global Diversity Champion programme to further strengthen the bank’s work to become a more inclusive workplace for LGBT+ people.

Global Transgender Instruction

Danske Bank has implemented a Group-wide Transgender Instruction to provide workplace support for transgender colleagues and those in the process of gender transition.

Inclusion Day event

Danske Bank has initiated an open Inclusion Day event, which we aim to turn into an annual event in collaboration with other companies, each year focusing on a different theme of diversity and inclusion to open up a public debate and express employers’ position.

Diversity & Inclusion policy

Our Diversity and inclusion Policy forms the basis for our efforts to ensure an inclusive workplace with a diverse workforce reflecting the societies we are part of.

Careers, guys, wives and handshakes

‘Careerist woman’ and ‘Careerist man’ - are they equal concepts? What is the difference between ‘male professions’ and ‘female professions?’ You asked, ‘Do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend?’ during small talk, but that sounds strange and makes you feel awkward. Situations like this happen to everyone.
