Danske Bank joins Stonewall Global Diversity Champion programme to further strengthen the bank’s work to become a more inclusive workplace for LGBT+ people.
As Europe’s largest LGBT+ organisation, Stonewall has spent more than 30 years empowering LGBT+ people to be their authentic selves, achieve their full potential and make a positive change together with their allies.

Stonewall aims to make sure all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people are accepted without exception. Danske Bank supports this mission and have joined their Global Diversity Champion programme which will provide the bank’s HR-department as well as employee-led Rainbow networks with tools to foster and sustain an LGBT+ inclusive workplace.

By joining the programme, Danske Bank will among other things get

  • access to best practice learnings from other large companies
  • input and support when making or updating policies and strategies
  • access to webinars that can increase knowledge about LGBT+ topics in the organization

“We are proud to join Stonewall’s diversity programme because we want to be a bank where everyone has the same opportunities and feels free to be who they are. Through their programme, we will have access to best practice tools such as support, webinars and guides which we will use to, for instance, increase knowledge about LGBT+ topics in the organisation and to make sure our policies are fully inclusive,” says Betina Dam Hansen, who is Diversity & Inclusion Group Lead at Danske Bank.

Kate Williams, Head of Workplace at Stonewall, is also looking forward to the collaboration. “We are delighted to be further developing our relationship with Danske Bank and welcome them to our Global Diversity Champions programme. The more organisations that stand up for equality, the sooner our workplaces and communities become places that accept and support LGBT+ people. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Danske Bank to create an LGBT+ inclusive environment for their staff and customers.”

Diversity and inclusion at the top of the agenda

Working with Stonewall group-wide is part of Danske Bank’s overall work with Diversity and Inclusion which is a key element in the plan to become a better bank.

“Having an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce is important to us because it is the right thing to do from an ethical point of view and because we want to be able to attract and retain talented employees that reflect the societies we are part of and ultimately provide the best customer experience,” explains Betina Dam Hansen.

Besides teaming up with Stonewall, Danske Bank has recently initiated a range of initiatives to leverage the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) agenda. Among these initiatives are the establishment of a D&I council and the appointment of D&I leads throughout the bank.
